Familiarity

Familiarity is a cruel realization That comes between the best of friends When you come to know someone all too well and no more secrets there are to tell. Familiarity keeps you underestimated in a shroud of unbelief Because after all, isn't he the carpenter's son didn't we used to hold him on our knee? Familiarity sets and the mystery is gone No more really caring what's on my mind Tired of hearing the same old song Used to hearing that same old rhyme. But what a surprise we end up being? To those who yawn as we grow Because from glory to glory & the renewing of the mind Me you will never truly know. Tomorrow I will be different from today & in a week you'll begin to wonder. Though consistent in so many ways. Who is this person who will not stay up under? The stereotype, wisdom, & all your knowing of statistics of how I should turn out. Why won't she learn to submit? Always catching me off guard & speaking out? Get back in your cage little girl ...

Clouds in My Head

My stack at work has reached so high I wonder some days if it will touch the sky Although I go at it day by day It seems to me it will never go away Like the sand on a beach Being counted by a canary Grain by grain this tedious task I carry Like an inch worm, I count every dollar every cent Measuring the marigolds, does not make my heart content If you wonder why I daydream Or have clouds in my head it's because if it wasn't for my dreams I would just as soon drop dead. Proverbs 29:18Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law --blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.(C)[amp]

Tandom Faith

by HB Cher People think I'm random But I'm really rather not For what you see carries me To a place beyond your spot. Then I begin to call out From a place that seems afar When really it's exactly where you actually are. Given time & thought your travel will get you there I just happen to find the connection in thin air. I pull it from a frequency that is always in our midst I pull it down & speak it and make a line exist. So you see I'm not so random On track I'd rather be Down a road less traveled Beyond what eyes can see. Stretch and you may find it The line between here and there. Stretch and you will see it Where faith defeats a dare. -I'm not changing the subject, I'm pushing the topic-

Grating on the Devil's Nerves

by HB Cher The devil doesn't like me much. I believe I grate on his nerves He takes one look at me and thinks of all I deserve. He would like to toss me in a pit and throw away the key He really doesn't understand What Jesus could possibly see in me. As I am walking along I'm always kept aware. That the devil doesn't like me much but mostly 'cause I don't care. His opinion is a fly in my ear His threats are a buzz I trust in the Hand of my Daddy And the rest is all just a fuzz. The devil doesn't like me much he really wishes I were dead he tries to shut my voice down & tell others I'm lose in the head. he likes to make up stories to make me look like a fool he likes to get you thinking I'm so far from anything cool. The thing I think I'm learning Through my experiences good & bad I would rather be on this end of the coin Than be on the other that's rather sad. Because friendship with the world's beliefs is enmity with all that Chr...

Time Under Your Umbrella

Last night I spoke with a friend just before going to sleep. One thing I am learning about myself is that I can TALK. It's funny. I spent so many years being so quiet.. but now..It seems.. when allowed.. I CAN SPEAK! So many ideas, so many visions and dreams, so many ideals.. SO MUCH I love to share. When it came time where SLEEP became necessary, the conversation closed.. with scripture being read out loud to me. The words hung in the air like a sweet perfume... and the essence of the truth in each phrase, swept down and tucked me in, safe & sound. I closed my eyes and realized I am learning about something new. Some coverings are nice, some are gentle, some are good. Not all umbrellas leak, not all will fail, not all will abandon and leave me soaked, exposed to a harsh environment. There are good men in this world. Men that have been touched by the finger of God and know His heart. Men that know Jesus and are becoming more and more like Him every day. These are wonderful men ...

Father's Day in a Fatherless Home

The sound of laughter in the back ground and a fresh game of Scrabble finished at the table. A full day of peace, with children laughing and adults working in unison with no friction. How blessed is my home. As I listen to the beautiful background noise, of joy & laughter.. I realize .. what being rich REALLY means. Even though there is not a physical father in my home.. Our Real Daddy, made sure we have been blessed with peace, love, joy, good health, & provision. Laura & I have been through so much with abuse & instability with our spouses. These days are the balancing of scales: no more war, no more battles, but a peaceful home. [Hagai 2:18-23] Do I regret divorce... yes, it hurts; when you have to choose the handicap of single parenting over the gangrene of a union that multiplies death & destruction. I do not pretend that all is well, but I will express appreciation for the fact that we can walk without a man & raise healthy children. Even though it is not ...

Delicate Balance

Friendship seems to be a delicate balance Of easy come and easy go Whatever happened to covenant bonds Not depending on what you do, or who you know. It's nice to know that someone will stick by me Even on my worst of days I miss having a friend beside me When all the world seems a craze. I long for authenticity I long for noble, & true I long to be a true friend And true friendship, I long from you. ~HB CHER

What the Lord & I are Carrying

Today, I came to a knowledge that dropped from my head to my heart. I am looking at this backpack FULL of things I need to act on & push against. When I see what all needs to be done a great overwhelming sense of inadequacy floods me. The result of this total lack of confidence puts me in neutral. How can one person possibly do this alone? That is when I see in a flash. How NONE of it I am carrying. I am just looking at the load, but it's not on MY shoulders. It is on Someone bigger than me. I am under Him and can see the load.. but the moment I think the weight of it is mine.. I become terribly deceived. All I have to do is stay beside Him, walk with Him, go & move when He says and where He says. The LOAD is truly HIS. It is no longer a matter of what I can handle on my own, but what I get to watch Him carry while we are traveling together. The weight of my world is on His shoulders, and as I look in to His face, He is smiling... He is enjoying carrying it for me. He is en...

Raise the Valleys

Avoiding clicks and politics You can have your drama & get your fix I'll just sit here and mind my own even if it means I'm utterly alone. No gossip or slander or negative talk You can take that complaining and go for a walk. Though it might make you uncomfortable at best I want you to know you can give it a rest. Respect you I will, for where you are at. Entertain you I won't, until your character's intact. What right do I have to measure and guide Nothing more than the Holy Spirit living inside. One that says we are to walk in forgiveness Letting nothing impure leave from our lips He has me on a tight leash, it surely is true But I trust in Him much more than I do in you. Mankind, Churchkind, Christian or Buddha Every person has something they can be sure of What you reap you will sow What you speak you will grow. Reality is based on what you know and what you know may be for show. Scary So except for this one fact IF you don't like where you're at You can...

Keeping Your Head Above Water?

Heavy weights are the lies that we swallow in an attempt to compensate for a losing battle. I recently looked in to the eyes of a young girl (it had been 6 months since I saw her last) and I was able to see a great barrier between us. I knew immediately that she had lost her virginity and was keeping me at a distance. It's not that I would judge her.. but more of how she sees herself now. She feels unable to connect, somehow pulled away by her own perceptions. She feels like she no longer belongs among "pure" people. "This is who she truly is, this is how she has always been, her attempt to be "holy" was just a charade to gain the confidence of others." (ALL LIES) I thought about the lies she was telling herself and I realized that they were like heavy weights in her spirit. Her life now was going to be a matter of treading, not resting. She will now make an effort to keep her head above water as to appear like everyone else & also to keep from dro...

Shaking Everything that Can be Shaken

Shaken loose from every tree From every vine that has hold of me To the ground I have been tossed Feeling such a great sense of lose In the dirt I'm all alone Succumbed by rain I'm pushed below Left to die for no one to see Awaiting the day I become a tree. Under my shade they will come to rest For I have died to the very best. Only from nothing Does God create something Everything else is man fabrication Common daily hallucination. Shaking, shaking, Shaking? Ha, do we even realize What we are asking for is our own demise.

“Don’t Mistake My Patience for Foolishness”

By: HB CHER Many people pass me by They think so often She’s rather shy. But inside my mind A novel sleeps Inside my heart Lie great defeats. I am not afraid of what you think Or try to impress you with a wink Though my wit is known by few I will do nothing to impress for new Friendly friends added day by day When truly your heart is lead astray For watered down becomes your point of view When impressing people that impress you. Diluted thoughts, shallow topics Avoid the thing that must be said For surely if you mention Jesus Your social life is as good as dead. Keep it light Keep it simple Dare not ask And cause a ripple In the matrix of what you call life We were born to make sure there is no strife Agree with you, you agree with me From other opinions we surely flee Or perhaps you look to the other side And wish the deeper noises Would quickly pass you by Go away my conscience is pricked By the thought that what you say, just might stick In the long run eternity is far away Why g...

Pricked in the Desert

For every quill a bruise does grow & If you are pricked it only does show That somewhere in the past or near present A heart was torn & left in the desert. A cruel walk it was to return among people To find you could not access love in the steeple So outside you stand, your quills poking out, If anyone came near, they would soon give a shout. Prick them you may, though you hardly mean it. You just want someone to take the time to see it. Through love, patience, & compassion.. a saint will come near And love you, despite you, and tell you; you are dear In time a trust relationship will take an effect And pulling the quill, you will no longer reject. Wounded, hurt, & bruised ones, come unto me It is my heart's desire, to see you set free. Once you are healed & free to love once again You will see the hurt ones from the way that they stand You become the saint, that knows how to give Unconditional love and freedom to live. Nonjudging, yet strong in your personal wa...

What WE talked about today.

While waiting for my friend Louise to get her haircut. I sat still and listened to my best friend. He wanted to tell me a few things about fear. I told Him I would write what I heard, so I listened carefully and wrote this. Fear is a virus that requires a receptor site in order to attach and infiltrate. When you are made WHOLE, there are no indentations on your soul by which fear can land. What caused the dents? (religion in the form of the knowledge of good & evil).. What is the antidote? (Relationship - w/ Perfect Love) It fills in the gaps and encompasses every part of your being. To find freedom pursue knowing Jesus Christ's Spirit. After Our talk, I looked online to find the receptor sites. I am amazed by what I discovered. LOOK at the antibodies.. they are like little doves! [THIS is why I majored in Biology!!] An electron micrograph of a rotavirus particle (A) and a rotavirus reacted with antibody (B) I LOVE the Holy Ghost! We were just having a light talk about fear and...

YES!! I am using the "A" word!

Self Reflection & "A"ccountability As in water, face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects man. Prov. 27:19 Plato, in his Apology , wrote, "The life which is unexamined is not worth living" I encourage everyone to take the time to examine your life. Where are you now compared to last year or 5 years ago; where do you want to be next year, or in 3 years. Then WELCOME the input of wise friends; remember, Trustworthy are the bruises caused by the wounding of one who loves you, but deceitful are the kisses of one who hates you . Prov 27:6 [according to the original Hebrew text] The most important factor in living up to your full potential is WHO is your "wise" counsel. Who are you running with? If you are going to be around turkeys, never expect yourself to fly. Find the eagles and allow "iron to sharpen iron". However, before you pull out your sword ONE thing is an absolute prerequisite! LOVE. Not everyone has a right to speak in to your ...

Take it By Force

Press on. Nothing in the world Can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; Nothing is more common Than unsuccessful men With talent. Genius will not; Unrewarded genius Is almost a proverb. Education will not; The world is full of Educated derelicts. Persistence and determination Alone are important. ~Calvin Coolidge I once read a true story of an evangelist who loved to hunt and had two topnotch bird dogs, setters. One morning, a bulldog came snorting down the alley and crawled under the fence into his back yard. At first he was going to put his setters in the basement to save the bulldog from being torn up; but he decided he wouldjust let it learn a lesson. Just as he thought his setters beat the bulldog until it had enough and shuffled out under the fence. Much to the evangelist surprise, around the same time the next day, the same ornery bulldog came up under the fence again. Once again the 2 bird dogs beat the stuffing out of the little bowlegged animal and probably would h...

Lunch Break Challenge

Time at the Park Lead me to study Daniel 3 The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego They said, "King Nebuchadnezzar, we don't need to talk about this anymore. 17 We might be thrown into the blazing furnace. But the God we serve is able to bring us out of it alive. He will save us from your powerful hand.18 "But we want you to know this. Even if we knew that our God wouldn't save us, we still wouldn't serve your gods. We wouldn't worship the gold statue you set up." Once again, another reminder of believers being called to stand and choose God's Authority over man, when it is contrary to the Kingdom. We have to stand against ANYONE or anything that goes against what we know is right. Christianity is not a matter of blind obedience, but honor & reverence and boldness. Again I hear the Spirit saying.. do not be bullied. Something is up, my friends. A challenge to stand is approaching. Is everyone ready to be unpopular for a while?

He Woke Me

He woke me just after midnight We talked til after 3 We spoke of things to come and what I wish to see. Though in tears I did remain because His presence was so sweet He planted jewels deep inside For the day He calls on me. I love You, my Love I love You, with all my heart I love You, more than life I am glad You will forever be My One and Only heart delight The Only One for me. ~HB Cher

clean hands and a pure heart

We bow our hearts, we bend our knees - O Spirit come make us humble. We turn our eyes, from evil things - O Lord we cast down our idols So give us clean hands, give us pure hearts; Let us not lift our souls to another. Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts; Let us not lift our souls to another - O God let us be a generation that seeks That seeks Your face, O God of Jacob - O God let us be a generation that seeks That seeks Your face, O God of Jacob. From Psalm 24: The Lord's is the earth and its fullness, the world and all its peoples. It is he who set it on the seas; on the waters he made it firm. Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord? who shall stand in his holy place? The man with clean hands and pure heart, who desires not worthless things, who has not sworn so as to deceive his neighbor. He shall receive blessings from the Lord and reward from the God who saves him. Such are the men who seek him, seek the face of the God of Jacob. O gates, lift high your heads; grow high...

The Wounding of the Mavericks

Maverick - 1. Southwestern U.S. an unbranded calf, cow, or steer, esp. an unbranded calf that is separated from its mother.2. a lone dissenter, as an intellectual, an artist, or a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates. It's time for the mavericks to come in to alignment. For too long you have sat in the backdrop, unhappy and unsatisfied with what you have seen from God's church. You have not settled for the country club way of life. You KNOW deep down inside that God intended for a battleship. He is calling you back.. to take your post, to take your position as a part of the crew. The cruise liner and popularity contest is over. Come now, the kingdom is at hand. Take hold of your place.. get prepared to stand. Your time alone with Him, has made you able to endure.. Your time alone with Him, will keep you strong & secure Your time alone with Him, is why you must go back You have been formed, molded, and designed & now you are free f...

We Do Not Fight Against Flesh & Blood

Any fool can make a rule, and any fool will mind it. ~ Henry Thoreau Put in a box. I want to get out. When an image is protected And a thought is a shout Why can I not be free To express my emotion? even if it does not fit what you would like to hear even if it is on the edge of what you hold dear Images, Images, Icons, & Dreams Sorry to disappoint you But I wish to be free I will not be put in a box that tells me I am not good enough I will not be put in a box That says I must always be better I will not be put in a box of your man made rules and regulations Of your particular tastes and fancies that make people feel small when they can't keep up that make people feel less than what you made up. Pharisee, Sadducee, Critical Spirit... You have been revealed And forever more may you not be concealed Legalism, Zealot, Religious to the hilt What you have done to hurt God's Children Will have you sifted in to silt.

Authority or Bully? Learn the Difference

KEEP GOD FIRST! Even above all authority (strength) here on earth. I know it can be a frightening thought sometimes.. given man's propensity to lie to himself. What a nightmare it would be if someone justifies sin by saying they are only doing "what GOD told them to do?"... hmmmmm... I lean heavily on common sense.. and am willing to take the risk, that most people will NOT twist their personal relationship with God as a means to hurt themselves or others. What I say now.. is for healthy minds only..(as wide or narrow as that spectrum may be) The example I use as far as when immediate authority should be rejected, is that of a relationship of a husband and wife.. but is not to be limited to just that (as can be seen in 1Kings). When authority uses it's position (strength) to make you go against conviction (based on God's Word), it's bullying. Studying the story of Ananias & Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11)~ if Sapphira would have rejected her husband's lead, she...

Snare of Superficial Morality

image: "Moral Balance" by Roy Robertson FRPS Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something. ~ Henry David Thoreau Yes, I actually do agree to this.. I was caught up in the snare.. of ALWAYS measuring every decision based on subjective morality. I came to realize that so much of what I thought was "moral" was simply man made rules based on another individual's personal weaknesses. I quickly came to learn that I would have to discover my own boundaries based on where I personally fall short, that life was more of a personal walk with a personal God. Once this relationship of dependence on God over man.. is established.. you reach a place where you can be "good for something". Every day is a new discovery of what that something is and can be.
