Men of God:"Are You A Father to the Fatherless & Are You Taking Care of the Widows & Are You Being Kind to Strangers Who Visit?
Greetings to All In The Precious Name of Jesus Christ,
I have some questions for you this morning.
1. How many of you know the names of all the fatherless children that are members of your congregation? Or know the names of all the children of your congregation?
2. How many of you touch basis with single moms who are members of your congregation about their children(child) to see if they need anything, even if it's just someone to talk to?
3. How many of you actually look at each child's report card each quarter or semester and give them praise for good work or encourage them to do better for poor grades?
4. How many of you spend time with the children of your congregation outside of service?
5. Would the single moms' and their fatherless children of your congregation feel as though they could come to you and discuss anything?
6. How many children do you pass by without even acknowledging their presence on any giving Sunday but then you say, "We have to reach out to our youth?
James 1:26-27 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
It's so easy to say, "I don't have enough time to do all these things." I would say, you can't afford not to do these things. Have you ever wondered why there are so many single moms sitting in your congregation Sunday after Sunday and their children aren't present with them? I'll tell you why. It's because some of those very children whom you see or hear about on the news who are stealing, drinking, drugging, murdering people, carjacking, assualting people, and in gangs in your cities belong to some of those moms sitting right there in your congregations. They're trying to hold on to faith that God will deliver their children, have mercy on their children, and save them.
From the beginning provision, protection, and favor was giving to the widows, fatherless, and strangers. Exodus 22:22-24 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. 23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; 24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
The sadest thing that I see in the house of God is the children being passed over and the widows being disregarded as if they are in the way. Correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't the scriptures declare in Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And also, in Titus 2:3-5 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. The aged women (MOTHERS) have been moved right on out the way. The younger women are in charge of everything and don't even seek the wisdom of the Mothers'. That's backwards isn't it? That's not what the scriptures declare. The younger women who are standing over these Mothers' need to take a seat and be taught themselves because they don't have enough wisdom to even discern that they need guidance.
How many of you actually go visit these widows or even pick up the phone to call them or sit with them talking about the goodness of the Lord? So many of the widows of your congregations come to church Sunday after Sunday and go home to an empty house or apartment, no visitors, children are deceased or living in another state, struggling to make ends meet because they're on a fixed income only receiving once a month Social Security payments but are more faithful in paying tithes and offerings than those who work everyday. How much time do you invest in them? They're sure investing in you and your ministry. They're the ones fasting and praying for you men of God. Do you know all the widows in your congregation? Do you make a point of calling them weekly to see if they need anything? The sad thing is that for some reason they feel if they came to the church in their time of need that they would be a burden to the church. How is that? Why is that? Do you not know that some of them don't even have enough food to make it to the next Social Security payment because they have to spend that money on medication? Do you know that alot of times they need rides to appointments but instead of being a burden to anyone they will get public transportation and suffer on through, even though their bodies are wrecked with pain? But they don't ever complain.
I thank God for the children and the widows, whether the widows are male or female. I thank God for each and every stranger that the Lord allows to visit every congregation. Whether the children are male or female they are important to God. They are the ones who most of the time get passed over but they will never say a mumbling word. Zechariah 7:9-11 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:
10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. 11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.
Men of God how many of you make a conscious effort to go and greet visitors (strangers) who come to service Sunday after Sunday? Do you dismiss their visit as if it's no big deal, it's just another visitor? Or do you make a B-line to greet that person and acknowledge them for being apart of the service? It's not by accident that they are there but they were sent. The word of God declares in Jeremiah 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. They were sent there because God wanted them there that you might feed his sheep, so that they can come into the knowledge of the truth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. BE VERY CAREFUL HOW YOU TREAT THEM!! Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
It's time out men of God for allowing saints to look down, mistreat, and belittle those who are without. So that single mom doesn't have a natural husband (The Lord is her husband) Isaiah 54:4-6 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. 5For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. 6For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
So what, those children are disobedient/rebellious in your mind and to those who unrighteously judge these childrens' actions, to God they are his precious little ones Matthew 18:5-7 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
In conclusion, I would say, "When you know better, you do better." We have to love all people nomatter what because GOD IS LOVE! How can you love this person and not that person are you not demonstrating a respect to persons? Which is SIN! James 2:8-10 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. May the Lord bless, prosper, and keep you all in his love in Jesus Name this is my prayer. I love you & God bless you!
