Subdue the Earth


Genesis 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Subdue: To quiet or bring under control by physical force or persuasion.

Matthew 11:12
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

hmmmm.........

I have been hearing the word SUBDUE all day.

I do believe in order to subdue something there is a force required. There is a form of authority in the Word by which the earth (and the laws of nature) must submit. This is the key to bringing Heaven (eternal) to Earth (temporal). The Earth (and it's physical laws) will not submit naturally.. but have to be SUBDUED. Isn't this what happened when Jesus told the storm, "peace, be still"; was this not an example of what it means to subdue the earth?
