Who Did You Marry?

I read this article today and wondered if this is not just talking about marriage, but Christianity in general.

When Good Enough Isn't Good Enough
Sometimes in marriage we work and work and believe that if we work hard enough our spouse will start treating us better. Often they will tell us that if we just did this or that they would love us more. Once we meet their request they change their request or add to it. It seems like nothing is good enough. Such situations may make you think that you just aren't a good spouse. The reality is that you are doing your best. It is your spouses issue when they cannot be satisfied with what you do. Do your best, but watch out for the never ending expectation hole that some spouses create in relationships.

How many of us are working really hard at doing the right thing for God, so He will love us more. Then we go to church to find that once we have done everything we can (stop smoking, stop drinking, stop cursing, stop being angry with people, always trying to keep peace and be a good "Christian") then we are told... well... you must tithe 10%, you must wake up between 4am & 5am every day for morning devotionals (I was told this, btw) before you can ever be sure to hear from God, you must volunteer your service in the nursery, as an usher, to VBS, or any form of helps ministry... once all this is done, then church attendence must be maintained regularly which includes loyalty (no visiting other churches or going to conferences anywhere else).. if you are going to miss a day someone must be notified. ...

Once that is done... THEN>>>>>> you must be sure to dress a certain way, project a certain sense of constant peace, never have a different opinion and all major or minor decisions in life must be consulted with the pastor and elders... any meetings or gatherings of church members in a home must be first approved by elders & leaders (with at least one present). No prayers are to be given by anyone in the congregation without leadership supervision. When you speak to strangers you must always ask what church they attend. You must faithfully plug your church and speak well of your pastors.

THEN>>>>>> well it never really stops you see. It may lead to you becoming indoctrinated in to the elite group of the "elders"... but from even there, the wheel goes on.

If you do not burn out.. or get completely discouraged.. then you will at least have become someone LOVED by GOD.

Religion has really done so much to mis-represent our Husband (Jesus).
He is not abusive.
He does not make you jump through hurdles in order to win his approval.
He does not tell you, "just one more thing lacks... THEN I will love you."
He does not say, "I saved you.. now you OWE me BIG TIME!"

I encourage you to really read the Word. Get to know Him and don't buy what you hear from other sources.
Trust in His love.
It is real, it is true, it is forever.

We just have to know... are you still married to the law... or do you recognize it's death on the cross; which freed you to marry Grace. (Romans 7:4)

WHO is your husband?

AMEN! All the world expects a "doer" or they deem you unproductive and lazy. This is my favorite, "Are you sure you're even hearing from the Lord"? I PRAISE THE LORD that He gave us Luke 10 where He says Martha is busy about many things, but Mary chose the better (receiving from Him) and that can NEVER be taken away from her! It is by the grace of God that I will always be Mary; I so STRONGLY pray that the body of Christ receive this revelation!

The Parable of the Snake

Once upon a time there was a serpent who was badly injured in a fight with another animal. It managed to slither away to safety but would have surely died if a benevolent man had not seen it suffering by the side of the road. The goodly man carefully wrapped the snake up and took it to his house, where he bestowed the kindest and gentlest care on the snake until it was healed and could return to the wild. Just as the man was releasing the serpent back into the grass, the ungrateful snake turned and bit him on the hand. "What did you do that for?" cried the man, who knew that the bite of this particular snake was usually fatal. "Didn't I take care of you when no one else would?" The snake shrugged (no small feat for a snake!) and replied to the benevolent--and now doomed-- man, "What did you expect? You knew I was a snake when you picked me up." We certainly know without any question that they are snakes. Time will tell if the moral of the tale is appli...

Tough Mind and Tender Heart by Martin Luther King

SERMON: A Tough Mind And A Tender Heart, by Martin Luther King, Jr. Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. (Matthew 10:16) A French philosopher said, “No man is strong unless he bears within his character antitheses strongly marked.” The strong man holds in a living blend strongly marked opposites. Not ordinarily do men achieve this balance of opposites. The idealists are not usually realistic, and the realists are not usually idealistic. The militant are not generally known to be passive, nor the passive to be militant. Seldom are the humble self-assertive, or the self-assertive humble. But life at its best is a creative synthesis of opposites in fruitful harmony. The philosopher Hegel said that truth is found neither in the thesis nor the antithesis, but in an emergent synthesis that reconciles the two. Jesus recognized the need for blending opposites. He knew that his disciples would face a difficult and hostile world, where they would confront the recalcitrance of...

AS I SEEK

By Cherstin Jagger Mendez I seek within the ebb and flow, In every attempt for my heart to grow. I lean into the winds to see what they say. Hoping it’s secrets, it will give away. How do you live a life to the fullest? How do you push yourself beyond….? The lead weights on my feet telling me I can’t go, Due to my age or life, without much to show. For the potential within me fights every day to get out! For the voice in my heart says I can not do without … Without the land beneath my feet, Without the sound of the trees in the wind. Without the buds that bloom and tell me there’s hope, Without the love that flows from beyond my scope. Without the connection that reminds me that I’m alive, Without your heartbeat here by my side I seek again for what I cannot see. I seek again for what’s found inside of me. I seek again for the strength to persevere, As I walk among those that this world does fear …. DEDICATED TO TDCJ CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS
