He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done. Proverbs 19:17
Lending to the Lord is more than just a money exchange. It is a matter of giving to others what they do not have within themselves to return to you.
If someone can not forgive and holds grudges, due to their own bankruptcy; forgive them.
If someone is rude and degrading, lend them kindness.
If someone is cold and distant, lend them love.
If someone is mocking and sarcastic, lend them understanding.
If someone is unable to see there own mistakes, but constantly points out the faults in others, lend them grace.
If someone continually withholds affection, lend them your embrace.
If someone never carries their wait, but expects everything done for them; lend them your service.
When the bible speaks of loving the unlovable.. it is addressing the bankrupt people around you. Give to them and the Lord will repay you. NOTHING is wasted when given to the Lord. I am fully aware that this is not how the world handles things... (faith rarely goes in the same flow as this world). The ONLY way we can do this without becoming bitter or resentful is when we TRULY believe that God is handling the debt. I speak from experience when I say, watch Him work on your behalf as you sow love with out demand. It really does pay off.
